This has answered so many questions I have had for so long about my asthma, specifically during exercise。 Fascinating book!

Useful but extremely repetitive。

A bit of a dull read, but worthwhile as it passes the midpoint where convincing relations to health and weight and sports performance are clearly drawn。 TL:DR; Significant sports performance and general health can be improved by simulating higher altitude training by simply lowering the amount of oxygen in the blood by breath exercises which lower total breath volume。 Simple experimentation seemed to validate many of the health claims and I’m adding the suggested exercises to daily life。

The Butyeko method elaborated。 In case you're looking for a simple, sound and effective way to manage your breath, McKeown's videos on YouTube should be checked out。 The Butyeko method elaborated。 In case you're looking for a simple, sound and effective way to manage your breath, McKeown's videos on YouTube should be checked out。 。。。more

Everyone needs to read this book to feel the best。 My breathing bc of this book has changed my life。 I am feeling better day by day from using the knowledge & breathing exercises from this book。 Feeling happier (much less depressed), feeling encouraged, I can walk better and it has helped my diet as well very exciting

I really don't know what to believe from this theory and what is gobbly-gook。 The idea that humans are breathing too much seems unlikely (but possible。。given that we tend to eat too much)。。。I wanted to have more PROOF of his claims。 But at no point did he offer proofor evidence of his claim that people used to breath less。 He did mentioned that Wade Davis noted that hunter-gatherers still living their traditional lifestyle, can run for hours with mouths closed。 Great。。。but it is a leap to say we I really don't know what to believe from this theory and what is gobbly-gook。 The idea that humans are breathing too much seems unlikely (but possible。。given that we tend to eat too much)。。。I wanted to have more PROOF of his claims。 But at no point did he offer proofor evidence of his claim that people used to breath less。 He did mentioned that Wade Davis noted that hunter-gatherers still living their traditional lifestyle, can run for hours with mouths closed。 Great。。。but it is a leap to say we used to breathe less deeply or often。 Why would humans evolve to take in too much oxygen? He claims our modern diet and stress cause this。。。but never offers an explanation of HOW stress or poor diet can lead to 'breathing too much'。 I can only surmise that poor diets can be mucogenic and cause poor air exchange causing humans to breathe more deeply to compensate。Still。。。it is intriguing。 I grew up in and around water and have a very strong dive reflex。 When I scuba dive I use half as much air as most divers I am with。。。I often find myself cruising along underwater and have to remember to take a breath because I am so relaxed and comfortable。 But is that more healthy for me? I can't say I am convinced。 。。。more

This book was hard to read in paper due to its dry nature and repetitiveness。 I finally switched to audio and just used the book for graphics and reference。 I am glad I read it and see the value in nasal breathing and the breathe light exercises。 I have been talking about the book with family and friends and several of them are taking the BOLT test and experimenting with the suggestions to see how we feel as our BOLT score increases。 The full verdict is not yet out, but I recommend the book。 I b This book was hard to read in paper due to its dry nature and repetitiveness。 I finally switched to audio and just used the book for graphics and reference。 I am glad I read it and see the value in nasal breathing and the breathe light exercises。 I have been talking about the book with family and friends and several of them are taking the BOLT test and experimenting with the suggestions to see how we feel as our BOLT score increases。 The full verdict is not yet out, but I recommend the book。 I believe that nasal breathing and breathing exercises will become firmly a part of my health routine。 。。。more

Klasična priča u kojoj se autor (isključivo Amerikanac) uhvati jedne teorije i pokušava da je dokaže na 100 različitih načina

Listened to audio book。 Wasn’t able to finish。 Could be a blog post。 Repetitive。 Hard to follow as a result。 Felt like I was listening to a “broken record” marketing campaign about the performance benefits of nose breathing and oxygen management intermingled with random stories (eg history of doping in bike racing) and dry facts。 Pity because there’s useful tips and interesting info but it’s lost in the sea of jumbled content。

Although the content might be excellent it’s hard to take it in through all the hyperbole and needless promoting of the book。 I was hoping it ended at the introduction, of which I needed to skip a portion of the shameless promoting and pointless stories with no substance were too much。 Only to wind up in the “science” theory chapter (first chapter) only to have another story that was even more out of place didn’t help explain anything or provide any insight other than once again claim how the ox Although the content might be excellent it’s hard to take it in through all the hyperbole and needless promoting of the book。 I was hoping it ended at the introduction, of which I needed to skip a portion of the shameless promoting and pointless stories with no substance were too much。 Only to wind up in the “science” theory chapter (first chapter) only to have another story that was even more out of place didn’t help explain anything or provide any insight other than once again claim how the oxygen advantage will solve all life’s problems, make you rich and famous, ridiculously good looking, and a world class athlete in every field regardless or talent or age (oh and it’ll make you live forever)。 Okay so the book doesn’t actually claim all those things but it doesn’t come that shy of it。 The shameless plugging of the book eased back in chapter 1 but did not completely end。 By chapter 2 it was back。 Chapter 2, the first time any of the actual program is provided, could be reduced to a page。 Just pointless meandering about what the program could do。 Like I really can’t overstate how ridiculous I find it。 The first 1/3 of the book could be condensed significantly or just removed。 Like I’ve bought the book and committed to ready it。 Provide evidence and techniques to help reduce “chronic over breathing” in clear and concise terms with enough information to make it clear with out boring the reader to death。 Instead of talking in circles about how it’s ruining modern life as we know it and repeating the same dribble over and over。 I don’t know any other books that share a similar hypothesis and techniques to be a better breather (or if there is actually any evidence to support the authors claim many of the in book quoted references are very old, like more than a 100 years) it but I can’t recommend this book。 I feel like this is one book that it might actually be beneficial to purchase a summary book on audible or other provider as to get the key concepts without needing to wade through all the unnecessary filler。 Other wise just google the title and read other reviews you’ll get the basics。 。。。more

The techniques listed listed in the book worked。 I’m only giving it four stars because all of the main arguments could fill one chapter and the author filled the rest of the book with words to meet the length requirements。

This book reads like a sales pitch for an MLM scheme。 Thinnest science I’ve ever seen。 Where is the research to back up the bolt score? Has anyone else peer reviewed the bolt score or the exercises? It’s well known that co2 and blood ph controls the pulmonary system but that doesn’t mean any of McKeown’s findings hold up to peer review。 I’m giving this two stars instead of one bc the ideas sound good。 I just wish there were some type of regulation around disseminating scientific claims without m This book reads like a sales pitch for an MLM scheme。 Thinnest science I’ve ever seen。 Where is the research to back up the bolt score? Interesting book。 Contrary to what you would think, breathing LESS puts MORE oxygen into your tissues since CO2 buildup is what triggers your body to take in O2。 So the book gave a ton of exercises for breathing less since it says that in the modern age we overbreathe and this has lead to breathing problems such as asthma。

This book was very informative。 I am 100% putting to good use what I have learned here by implementing the oxygen advantage training into my lifestyle。 One thing that was a real big takeaway for me and an eye opener, was how low my BOLT score was—especially considering how much I exercise。 BOLT score is defined as; “The length of time in seconds that you are able to hold your breath following and exhale until you feel the first physical science to take a new breath。”I was honestly blown away by This book was very informative。 I am 100% putting to good use what I have learned here by implementing the oxygen advantage training into my lifestyle。 One thing that was a real big takeaway for me and an eye opener, was how low my BOLT score was—especially considering how much I exercise。 BOLT score is defined as; “The length of time in seconds that you are able to hold your breath following and exhale until you feel the first physical science to take a new breath。”I was honestly blown away by how poorly I scored on this test。 That intrigued me to continue on and had motivated me greatly to improve it。 This book was a little repetitive and dragged on towards the final 3rd but I understand since it is more of an information rich and science packed book that it is necessary to present all angles of research for due diligence and ensure the safety of people attempting the exercises。 Great info, highly recommend everyone know their BOLT score and at a minimum read a summary of this book, very important content but could be better presented in a summary for those not interested in the long haul! 。。。more

Persuasive, practical book on why we should breathe less。 My BOLT was only 16 seconds! I'm excited to see what improving this can do to my performance in the gym。There was a lot of repetition but but really in a bad way。 The back of the book also has all the exercises explained like a training manual, which I like。 Persuasive, practical book on why we should breathe less。 My BOLT was only 16 seconds! The science of breathing。 The measurement here was using BOLT, and depending on your BOLT score, there are exercises in this book which you could practice it。 Of course the book more on the explanation about the science behind nose breathing, but this book quite balance between theory and practice rather than similar books out there。

I will review my rating of this book again in about a year, when I have been able to implement more of the exercises。 For now, suffice it to say that everything I am capable of doing contained in this method has led to results。

An interesting introduction to the theory of over breathing。 I have started to implement a few of his strategies, and interested to see any results。 Recommend to anyone who sighs a lot, of always finds themselves out of breath。

Très bon livre qui nous apprend plus sur la physiologie de la respiration et de la gestion de celle ci durant l’effort。

Interesting and useful but too repetitive。Whether you are interested in fitness or not, the science and techniques described in this book could be very beneficial。 However, I find that it could have been written in far fewer pages without losing any valuable information。 Sometimes it feels like it's blowing his own trumpet。(I would like to add that it have been useful to be able to understand the science behind the Wim Hof method)。Even though I don't think reading it was a waste of time, I'd ins Interesting and useful but too repetitive。Whether you are interested in fitness or not, the science and techniques described in this book could be very beneficial。 However, I find that it could have been written in far fewer pages without losing any valuable information。 Sometimes it feels like it's blowing his own trumpet。(I would like to add that it have been useful to be able to understand the science behind the Wim Hof method)。Even though I don't think reading it was a waste of time, I'd instead recommend a good summary。 。。。more

This book is an absolute game changer。 It cleared up so many misconceptions I had about breathing such as breathing more means you're getting more oxygen in。 Ever since I've read these books I've been doing the breathe light to breath right exercise and it has helped me calm down and produce internal body warmth。 Would highly recommend this book to most people, especially considering we live in a time where we are high stress and sedentary。 This book is an absolute game changer。 It cleared up so many misconceptions I had about breathing such as breathing more means you're getting more oxygen in。 Ever since I've read these books I've been doing the breathe light to breath right exercise and it has helped me calm down and produce internal body warmth。 Would highly recommend this book to most people, especially considering we live in a time where we are high stress and sedentary。 。。。more
